Light and mental health

In the largest study of objective light data ever, we found that light patterns relate to a broad range of psychiatric outcomes. Brighter light in the day was associated with reduced disease risk, but brighter light at night was associated with increased risk. Avoiding light at night and seeking light during the day may be a simple and effective, non-pharmacological means of broadly improving mental health. Click on the cover to access the paper.
