MiEye

Wearable Light Sensor

A device made by researchers, for researchers.

Collect exceptional light data for your research studies.

Understand how real-world light impacts circadian rhythms

MiEye is a best-in-class measure of light to help track circadian rhythms.

Challenge

Research shows that unhealthy light behaviours can result in chronic disease. But the health effects of light are non-conscious.

Solution

MiEye measures light the way the circadian clock sees it, which differs from visual light perception. By modeling the impact of light on the circadian clock, the device will help you understand your personal circadian rhythms giving you insight into healthier light behaviors.

Research

MiEye was created by circadian rhythms researchers to capture real-world light exposure patterns and the effect on each photoreceptor of the human eye (all alpha-opic illuminances). From these data, MiEye models how light impacts the circadian clock.

We have created a new design that is sleek and easy to use for multi-day field-based recordings.

Currently, MiEye is only available to researchers for research purposes. Stay connected to see when MiEye is available to the general public.

New Design

We have optimized our design for extended battery life and memory. The award-winning design is attractive, encouraging research participants to wear the device continuously.

An on-board accelerometer enables MiEye to distinguish wear vs. non-wear times, for more accurate analysis of the light data.

We have developed a charging bed that allows MiEye to capture the light in the sleep environment.

The charger design builds on a sleep narrative of a bed/pillow, the top surface appears to be ‘soft,’ allowing the wearable to lie down to go to sleep.

Quality

We have achieved a sleek and attractive design while creating a device that is robust against real-world wear and tear.
